“Health care security is peace of mind,” Ford said. “It’s what every family deserves — and what I’ll keep fighting to protect, both here at home and in Washington.”
La Shawn K. Ford| Ford For Congress
Access to reliable health care remains one of the most pressing challenges facing families across the 7th Congressional District — and it’s an issue La Shawn K. Ford has championed for years.
As Illinois opens its 2026 Health Insurance Marketplace enrollment through Get Covered Illinois, Ford is urging residents to take advantage of this opportunity to protect themselves and their families.
“Throughout my time as State Representative, I’ve worked to expand access to health care for every family. Now, as a candidate for Congress, I’m ready to take that same fight to Washington — because no one should feel alone navigating our health system,” Ford said.

Residents without insurance, or those wishing to renew or change their plan, can do so during this time — the only period of the year when most Illinoisans can update their coverage without a qualifying life event.
For assistance, residents can visit GetCoveredIllinois.gov or call (866) 311-1119 to speak with trained navigators who provide free, local enrollment help.
“Health care shouldn’t be out of reach for working families,” Ford added. “Whether you’re signing up for the first time or renewing your coverage, this is your chance to make sure you and your loved ones are protected.”
