Community Winter Advisory and Warming Centers

As a strong cold front moves into the Chicago area and surrounding communities in the 7th Congressional District, we want to share important information to help keep you and your neighbors safe during the coming days.

Winter Weather Timeline for the 7th District

A strong Arctic front will bring extreme cold and dangerous wind chills from Thursday, January 22, through Sunday, January 25, 2026. The cold will be most severe on Friday, January 23, with sustained sub-zero conditions and wind chills far below zero.

Please monitor local weather reports and emergency notifications from your city or township. Conditions can change rapidly during extreme cold.

Heat Safety Tips

  • Stay indoors as much as possible.

  • Dress in layers if you must be outside.

  • Check on seniors, people with health conditions, and neighbors who may need help.

  • Keep phones charged and emergency contacts handy.

  • If your home heating is unreliable, seek a warming center or shelter.

  • Are concerned about exposure to extreme cold
